Product Details

This Friendly bars are kinder to the planet, gentler on your scalp, and leaves your hair super-duper soft and marvellously manageable. You can either use this conditioner as a bar, just add warm water and rub like normal soap and run it through your hair.

Or, alternatively you can create liquid conditioner by mixing the bar with 600ml of boiling water until is dissolves. Then allow it to cool to a safe temperature and pour it into your bottle of choice. Amazing!

For their conditioners they use a special blend of cocoa butter and castor oil to give you fabulous and frizz-free results with every wash. The boffins call it cationic, but all you really need to know is that its positively charged particles help this bar leave your hair softer to touch, simpler to manage and even more sensational to look at. At the same time, we’ve used essential oils of Lavender and Rose Geranium to add calming and anti-bacterial to its long list of benefits.

It even comes in a little card box, not a nasty plastic bottle.

Who are Friendly?

Based just up the road in Hebden Bridge, Friendly soap is made by locals with a passion for the environment. Their ranges contain no animal products or by-products and have never been tested on animals, which means they've really earned their registration with Cruelty free International and The Vegan Society.

The ancient cold-process method means their soap is totally biodegradable and free from by-products too, so there’s literally no waste. In terms of energy use, they pour, cut, stamp and pack their soaps by hand in the UK, so they’re talking lots of calories but a small carbon footprint.

Their packaging is pretty special too, because it’s made from materials that are 100% recycled as well as recyclable. Plastic doesn’t get a look in, and their parcels for delivery use brown paper tape. Heck, they even use poppy seeds and hemp bran instead of microbeads.

A million miles from conventional detergents, they don’t use harmful preservatives or foaming agents because there’s no real need for SLS or Parabens. The silky-smooth lather produced by their soaps is all down to careful ingredient choice and the cold-process method of making them.

What about their Shea butter? Bought from a women’s worker cooperative in Ghana. Coconut oil? Taken from coconuts guaranteed not to be harvested by slave monkeys. So you can be comforted by the fact that not only is this soap amazing quality and good for the planet, but locally made.
